Children’s Respite Care Serving New Orleans & the North Shore

Angels’ Place is a non-profit respite care service for children serving the greater New Orleans area, Covington, Mandeville, Slidell, and southern Mississippi.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of Angels’ Place is to provide ongoing support services to children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Consistent with the vision of our founder Anita Gilford, we support these families in a loving and caring manner throughout the year.

See Us In Action

Respite Care

Respite is “a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or unpleasant.” The focus of our mission is respite care for the families of our Angels suffering with a life threatening illness. Trained respite volunteers visit our Angels in the hospitals to give parents and guardians much needed relief and time to take a break, grab a meal, take care of siblings or just lend an ear to them during a very trying time. The Angels’ Place Respite Volunteers provide this service free of charge and with loads of love and compassion.

Booville Halloween Party

Slightly spooky, but mostly fun costumes and characters greet our Angels for the Halloween party we call “Booville.” The little goblins showcase their costumes and enjoy crafts. Our children go Trick or Treating around the grounds of our partner, Magnolia Community Services. A fun afternoon for all of our Angels and their families.

Christmas Party

The magic of Christmas is shared with our families each year at the Angels’ Place signature program Christmas Party. This event has grown each year in scope and fun! Our Angels share time with their families enjoying crafts, caroling, fantastic food and of course a visit with Santa! All the while, the Angels’ Place elves are helping parents to load up the family sleigh with gifts for Christmas morning from our multitude of fantastic donors. Everyone is sure to have a Merry Christmas!

Spring Fling

The Spring Fling is the another one of our family events, usually held on the campus of St. Martin’s Episcopal School. Our Angels have a few hours of fun and surprises, while our families get some moments of worry-free time. Bounce houses, face-painting, cupcake decorating, picnic food, games of skill, giveaways, and field games are enjoyed by everyone. We also have a door prize drawing for our families that includes gift cards and other great prizes. The afternoon comes to a close with the traditional tug-of-war and a huge Easter egg hunt. What an ‘Eggs-tra’ special day!!
